Master of Science in Integrative & Functional Medicine with a Concentration in Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Memory Care

The Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and Memory Care concentration provides applied education and research for generalists, specialists, and experienced practitioners to gain a deeper clinical insight into brain health, symptom management and memory care. Learners will be able to utilize integrative, functional and lifestyle medicine principles coupled with clinical diagnostic evaluation tools and tests for the care and management of cognitive impairments including dementia (including vascular and behavioral variants), progressive aphasia, and corticobasal degeneration.

This program prepares individuals to assume roles as health and wellness professionals in private business and industry, community organizations, and health care settings.

Nutrition, Lifestyle Medicine, Sports Medicine, and Cannabinoid Medical Sciences Concentration graduates meet the core nutrition coursework requirements. Additional core science coursework may be required prior to the Certified Clinical Nutritionist (CCN) Exam, if applicable.

Graduates may apply for and use the NNCP designation.
Candidates may also apply for the Registered Nutritional Therapist title
open to members who have been practicing for 3 or more years.

Diplomate American Clinical Board of Nutrition (DACBN)

Graduates of the Nutrition concentration who hold a doctoral degree are eligible to sit for the exam to earn this prestigious title. The DACBN is one of the three clinical nutrition credentials recognized by NCCA to practice clinical nutrition.

Diplomate of the Chiropractic Board of Clinical Nutrition (DCBCN)

Graduates of the Nutrition concentration are eligible to submit for candidacy for the DCBCN credential through the Chiropractic Board of Clinical Nutrition.

CERTIFIED SPORTS NUTRITIONIST

Sports Medicine concentration students are eligible to submit for exam candidacy to the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN). Exam candidacy requires an active ISSN membership.

The MS in Integrative and Functional Medicine Program Admission Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree from a regional, national or international equivalency accredited agency recognized by the United States Department of Education in a related field.

• A GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for the last degree earned.
• If the applicant’s first language or the language of instruction is not English, English proficiency examination scores are required.
• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The minimum scores are 550 (pBT) or 213 (cBT) or 79 (iBT).
• The International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The minimum score required is 6.5.
• The PTE Academic minimum score required is 53.
• Active/Current Medical and/or License/Certification recommended.
• Interview with a JPU representative

*Prerequisites are effective for students enrolling for the Spring 2021 semester or later. Students that are unable to demonstrate completion of the required prerequisites, may still gain acceptance into the program and complete any required prerequisites at John Patrick University.
